Kia Ora and welcome to Alexandra Kindergarten.
Our kindergarten is in the heart of the Alexandra township. We have an
enthusiastic, supportive and energetic community who work alongside our
teachers to provide a fun, safe and challenging environment where children's
play is valued. Children learn to take responsibility for themselves, share in
decision making and are encouraged and supported to be inquiring and confident
learners. Our kindergarten is a place where we share skills, values and
cultures of others while acknowledging our own place within our community. It
is an environment where we can feel good about ourselves and be caring of
others.
We provide children with rich opportunities to learn about and apply literacy
and numeracy skills. Activities included are designed to develop children's
understanding of the purposes of print and mathematical concepts. Children have
the opportunity to work on their own and also be part of the larger group. At
Alexandra Kindergarten we love music!! We sing, we dance, we imagine and we
"become".
Currently we are further upgrading our outdoor area and we look forward to
sandpit extensions, decked areas and improved softfall. We have a "secret"
native garden that is being newly established.
