Riverdale Kindergarten is licensed 45/45 sessional kindergarten with three fully trained and registered teachers. It is located between Riverdale School and Tairawhiti Polytechnic Rural Studies Unit.

There is a high emphasis placed on manaakitanga from the initial contact stages of enrolment, along with the opportunity to 'stay and play and an 'open door' policy for whanau. This concept is promoted and maintained throughout the child's 'belonging' in the kindergarten community and environment. Staff are committed to providing an equitable environment that respects all families of its community. The Staff of Riverdale provide a high quality-learning environment that promotes and supports individual children's interests, learning styles, skills and abilities.
