We differ from the other two kindergartens in Oamaru, with the successful introduction of our six hour session from Monday to Thursday each week, operating between the hours of 8.30am-2.30pm. On Fridays, our hours of operation are 8.30am - 12.30pm. Because of these extended hours we employ three trained and registered teachers, giving a ratio of one fully registered teacher for every ten children, plus a support person for three hours each day.
Located at 34-A Stuart Street, Glendale, Awamoa, we cater ideally to the rural as well as the residential community. Two large outdoor areas provide a large adventure playground, extensive softfall, a flying fox, geo-gym, and covered verandas.
A large grassed area provides excellent outdoor facilities for our many ride on toys, ball handling skills and established trees for shade during the summer months.
Our children bring their lunch every day and the extended session times have proved to be a positive change for our community and those parents who wish their child to have high quality education at an affordable cost.
The modern, open plan interior is a bright, colourful, inviting area, incorporating the latest design and technology in our furnishings and storage areas, with the layout conducive to excellent supervision.
Sandra, Fiona and Glenda who all bring their unique style of teaching and skills to the programme, see themselves as facilitators of the learning process and are sensitive to the individual needs of each child.
They believe the environment should be aesthetically pleasing and stimulating and accept responsibility for maintaining a creative and supportive atmosphere conducive to learning for the children, the parents, and themselves.
Their goal is to foster and instil the joy of learning within each child and the programme strives to develop and extend the potential of the child in a nurturing, inclusive environment, while responding to the cultural and social needs of families.
Enrolments are accepted from birth and staff welcome any visitors who wish to gain further knowledge about our centre and what it can offer for their child.
