Paengaroa Kindergarten, which is part of a small settlement 10 kilometres west of Te Puke on the main highway to Rotorua, opened in 1992 and is sited next to the Paengaroa School. The kindergarten, which has vertical (mixed age) grouping with children attending either four morning or four afternoon sessions each week, serves both the village and the surrounding rural areas. The community contains a wide socio-economic range of families, some with small farms or orchards, and others who commute daily to Te Puke, the Mount, or Tauranga.
